There was much anticipation for the launching of Luna Rossa<\/strong> that took place on April 13 in the Cagliari Sea. After the blessing given by Monsignor Baturi, archbishop of Cagliari, Miuccia Prada broke the bottle of Maximum Blanc de Blancs from Cantine Ferrari<\/strong> on the bow of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli’s boat AC75. Here are the characteristics of the Italian boat that will participate in the 37th edition of the world’s oldest trophy.<\/p>\n

Luna Rossa is more than just a racing boat; it is the result of an impressive collaboration between the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli design team and the Persico Marine shipyard in Nembro, Italy. That co-opted a design pool of 40 people and more than 70,000 hours of work by 35 experienced boat builders. The AC75 features a hull made of more than 3,500 square meters of pre-impregnated carbon fiber(Delta – Preg<\/strong>).Luna Rossa is a testament to the precision and innovation in the use of materials.<\/p>\n

The 26.5-m tall mast was made in Cagliari, along with technologically advanced Carbon and Dyneema sails from North Sails. The total sail area is about 220 square meters. The crew is eight people, consisting of helmsmen, trimmers and cyclists.<\/p>\n

Luna Rossa 2024 is a true symbol of technological innovation in the sailing world, and represents a perfect synthesis of form and function. Through collaboration with leading companies from Italy and abroad, this vessel embodies the best of skills and technologies from different sectors.<\/p>\n

Luna Rossa’s AC75 is the Italian team’s tenth America’s Cup boat, the first having been built in 1999.<\/p>\n

Test and sea training sessions will kick off in the coming days in Cagliari, offering the team the opportunity to put the boat through its paces in real-world conditions and refine their sailing strategies. Afterwards, the boat will be transferred to Barcelona where the 37th America’s Cup races will be held.<\/p>\n
