To the overwhelming sounds of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Don’t Stop,” the team anthem echoing through the base’s speaker system, the Alinghi Red Bull Racing family gathered to celebrate the launch of the new AC75 that will be featured in the upcoming America’s Cup 2024<\/a> regattas.<\/p>\n

Alinghi Red Bull Racing makes its return to the America’s Cup scene in 2024, bringing with it a rich history of success and controversy. Originally known simply as Alinghi, the Swiss team won the prestigious America’s Cup in 2003 and successfully defended the title in 2007.<\/p>\n

The team’s name, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, reflects both its heritage and its current main sponsor, Red Bull. Based at the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nautique de Gen\u00e8ve, the team is led by skipper Hans Peter Steinacher, an experienced Austrian sailor.<\/p>\n

The Swiss team’s victory in 2003 was historic, as it was the first time a European team won the America’s Cup. However, there has been quite a bit of controversy as Alinghi has recruited several key members of Team New Zealand, the title-holding team, stirring controversy and tension in the sailing world.<\/p>\n
